WhatsApp Live Location relies on continuous mobile data and can drift by up to 50 metres in built-up areas or under motorway bridges. A what3words address is fixed: once you read us those three words, that 3-metre square remains the target even if your phone battery dies or your data signal drops entirely.
Do I need a data signal for what3words to work?
No, the official what3words app functions offline using your phone’s built-in GPS.
