Who we are
Not Just Recovery.
Recovery Done Right.
"We're mechanics first. Recovery is what we do when we can't fix it at the roadside."
MJC Auto Recovery is an independent London breakdown and recovery company founded in 2010 by Marko, Janic and Christian. The name MJC is simply theirs – no acronym, no corporate invention. Three people who put their names into something they wanted to build properly.
Fifteen years and thousands of recoveries later, the fleet is larger, the team has grown to seven, and the coverage now spans all of London, the M25, and a wide band of the Home Counties. But the approach hasn’t changed: when someone’s vehicle breaks down, MJC sends a mechanic, not just a recovery truck.
Most recovery operators arrive, load the car, and leave. When an MJC operator arrives, he first checks whether this can be resolved there and then. A dead battery, a loose cable, a fault code that can be cleared, even a locked calliper, all jobs that don’t need a flatbed if the right person turns up. We try to be that person.
Pre-2010
Marko, Jemma and Christian see the same pattern: Expensive German and Italian cars with small electrical faults being sent to dealerships charging extortionate rates.

How we started
Built Because the Industry Wasn't
Equipped to Do It Right
MJC began not with a business plan, but with a recurring frustration that the founders couldn’t ignore any longer.
In the years running up to 2010, he kept seeing the same thing play out. Ageing BMWs and Mercedes, the technologically ambitious cars built between roughly 1999 and 2005, were starting to show their age. The electrical architecture on those vehicles was sophisticated for its time: adaptive systems, early comfort electronics, and complex CAN bus wiring that nobody else in the industry was building. But by 2010, those cars were ten years old, and the systems were beginning to fail.
The faults themselves were rarely catastrophic. A module is dropping off the network. A sensor is reading incorrectly.
An intermittent fault that could be diagnosed and resolved at the roadside in under an hour, or addressed properly in a small independent garage for a fraction of dealer rates. The cars were recoverable. The knowledge to recover them was available. The problem was the people being sent to do it.
Recovery operators, including the national operators, would arrive, fail to identify what they were dealing with, and default to the only thing they knew: load the car and take it to a dealership. The dealerships, for their part, were happy to charge accordingly. Diagnostic fees. Labour rates were calibrated for a customer with no other option. A three-figure bill for a fault that warranted a two-figure fix.
Marko had the mechanical and diagnostic knowledge to see what was happening. He also had no interest in being part of it.
When Jemma and Christian came alongside, all three had the same instinct: do it properly, or don’t bother. They started in South London in 2010 with a single flatbed and a clear operating principle: turn up, understand what’s actually wrong, and fix it if it can be fixed. Recovery as a last resort, not a reflex.
For several years, MJC operated as a Green Flag-approved contractor, a relationship that validated the operation’s standards. But around 2017, the business made a deliberate choice: to go fully independent.
Not because the partnership hadn't worked - but because independence gave MJC the freedom the original idea demanded. No network constraints on which jobs to take, which equipment to invest in, or how long to spend on a roadside fix. A reputation built directly with customers, not filtered through a national brand. The same instinct that started the business in 2010 - do it properly - was easier to honour without a contract telling them otherwise.

THE TEAM
THE FOUNDERS
Marko
Co-Founder & Senior Recovery Operator
Marko is the operational heart of MJC — the voice on the phone and the first face at your window. He co-founded the business in 2010 and has been on the road ever since. A qualified ECU remapping specialist with a particular expertise in supercar and high-performance vehicle recovery, where the margin for error is smallest.
Janic
Co-Founder & Diagnostics Expert
Janic co-founded MJC alongside Marko and Christian and has been central to shaping the business from the ground up — ensuring the standards that define MJC today are lived up to in every callout.
Christian
Co-Founder & Senior Mechanic
Christian is the third name behind MJC — there from the beginning, and part of why the business has maintained its direction and standards through fifteen years of growth. He's also the dignostics expert that keeps the MJC wheels turning.
RECOVERY OPERATORS
The Engine Room
Along with the founders, Bogdan and Lucas make up the core of MJC's recovery operation. Between the five of them, they've covered thousands of callouts across London and the surrounding counties — motorway recoveries, multi-vehicle recoveries, flood recoveries, classic car extractions, and everything in between.
Each operator is not only a capable mechanic, but specifically trained in flatbed and low-loader recovery, EV handling protocols, and the specific loading procedures for the full range of vehicles MJC recovers — from standard saloons to electric vehicles, classic cars, and high-performance cars.

WORKSHOP & ROADSIDE MECHANICS
Michael
Senior Mechanic — Classic & Vintage Vehicle Specialist
Michael started his working life as a mechanic in Barbados, and brought that knowledge to London where he has continued working on cars for over 30 years. That's almost half a century in the trade, and it shows in the way he works.
He's the person MJC trusts with classic and vintage vehicles, entirely comfortable in a set of overalls with his hands in an engine where others may hesitate. He prefers to be known simply as Michael.
Ashoke (Ash)
Diagnostic & EV Specialist
Where Michael's expertise runs deep into the mechanical past, Ashoke's runs toward the technical present. He specialises in electrical diagnostics, ECU remapping and modern vehicle systems — spending most of his time working with diagnostic software rather than under bonnets.
He's MJC's authority on electric and hybrid vehicles, and the person who attends complex EV callouts where a recovery operator alone isn't enough.
"Between Michael and Ashoke, MJC carries more than five decades of mechanical and technical knowledge — from carburettors to computer diagnostics.
What we stand for
No Mission Statement.
Just How We Work.
Diagnose Before You Recover.
A recovery should be the last resort, not the default. We look for a fix at the roadside before we load the vehicle. If we can solve it where you're standing, we will.
Fully Insured. Every Job.
MJC is fully insured for all vehicles we handle — from standard saloons to EVs, classics and high-performance cars. Your vehicle is covered from the moment we arrive to the moment we deliver it.
Damage-Free Recovery.
Right equipment, right technique, right attachment points. We don't cut corners on method to save time. Your vehicle leaves in the same condition it was in when we arrived — that's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Straight Answers, Upfront Pricing.
You'll be quoted before we move. No hidden call-out fees, no surprises on the invoice. If it's fixable at the roadside, we'll tell you before we start. We take card, cash and payment on completion.
Independence, By Choice.
MJC operates without affiliation to any national recovery network. Our standards are our own. Our reputation is built entirely on how we treat customers — there's nowhere to hide behind a brand.
Experience you can feel.
From Michael's 40+ years in the trade to Ashoke's diagnostic precision to Marko's supercar recovery expertise — depth of knowledge is built into every callout, not just the complicated ones.
Priority for Vulnerable Drivers.
Lone drivers, drivers with children, elderly customers and anyone in a vulnerable or unsafe situation are always our priority dispatch. If that's you, tell us when you call.
Treat it like your own
The principle MJC was built on in 2010, and the one that hasn't changed. Every vehicle that comes into our care is handled the way we'd want ours handled — with attention, precision and honesty.

A story that defines us
The day We Waded Knee-Deep on the A406.
That job is the clearest illustration of why MJC’s mechanic-first model exists. The right person, the right knowledge, the right instinct. Not just to load a car, but to understand what it means to its owner.
In July 2021, the A406 wasn’t a road – it was a raging river. The BBC news alerts said London was drowning in flash floods that stranded buses and shut down the city.
Amidst the chaos, we received a call from the owner of a classic Porsche 356, a beautiful silver piece of history, a striking red interior, and a much-loved car – submerged and stalled in a deep part of the North Circular. It was a car that had been gifted to her by her grandparents, imported from France.
Most would have waited for the water to subside. But our driver knew that for the owner, this wasn’t just a car; it was their pride and joy, stranded far from its home in Northampton. Wading through knee-deep water, he reached the vehicle, hooked it up, and began the painstaking process of recovering the car and taking it back home to Northampton.
But as all our drivers are mechanics at heart, he knew that water in a classic Porsche 356’s air-cooled engine could be a death sentence if left to sit. As the floodwaters receded, he knelt beside the silver beauty, popped open the rear bonnet, and began to work. With practised hands, he removed the spark plugs, cranked the engine to expel the water from the cylinders, then carefully dried the distributor and ignition components. He even checked the gearbox oil, finding traces of a milky substance due to contamination. He performed a makeshift drain-and-refill, ensuring the transmission wouldn’t seize later. It wasn’t a full restoration – it was a battlefield surgery, a mechanic’s instinct to save what mattered most.
When we finally handed the keys back in Northampton, the owner’s silent, relieved smile said it all.
"We didn't just recover a car that day. We returned a piece of her home."
