Anglia Car Auctions Collection & Transport — London & UK Wide
Anglia Car Auctions Collection Classic or Modern.
Classic and vintage. Barn finds and project cars. Wednesday modern used. Collector lots. Anglia Car Auctions in King’s Lynn is one of the UK’s last genuine drive-through auction houses. A family business, but a high-pressure logistics operation. Low ground clearance, seized brakes, rotten sill rails and a boot full of spare parts are Tuesday morning realities at the Cattlemarket. MJC arrives with a tilt-and-slide or beavertail, nylon straps and the knowledge that the history file is worth 15% of the car’s value.

Tilt-and-Slide — Not a Standard Ramp
A standard transporter ramp is too steep for a 1960s Lotus or a lowered 80s Ford. The tilt-and-slide provides the near-flat approach angle that preserves the front valance, exhaust and chrome. Not optional at King’s Lynn.
Nylon Straps — Not Chains
Classic and vintage wheels are often irreplaceable. Chains mark them. We use nylon straps on every Anglia classic collection. If the drums are seized, we winch — gently, with the strap load spread.
History File Retrieved
For a classic buyer, the service book, old MOTs and original documentation can represent 15% of the car’s value. We check that the history file and spares folder leave the site with the vehicle, not left on a shelf in the office.
Residential Delivery Specialists
90% of Anglia classic deliveries go to residential driveways, not PDI centres. Narrow village lanes, low-hanging trees and tight turning circles. We plan the delivery route before the truck leaves King’s Lynn.

The Anglia Reality
Why the Cattlemarket Is Harder Than It Looks.
ACA is one of the UK’s last genuine drive-through auction houses. That means a car that drove through the hall on Saturday morning can be completely dead by Tuesday collection. Forty-year-old British Leyland electrics, seized drum brakes and rotten chassis rails that cannot support a winch hook are not edge cases at King’s Lynn — they are Tuesday morning. And the site at peak classic weekend is packed with catalogue-carrying members of the public walking behind loading ramps.
The Wrong Ramp Angle
A standard transporter ramp is too steep for most 1960s and 70s sports cars. E-Types, Lotus Elans and low-bodied classics will lose their front valance or exhaust before the front wheels touch the deck. The tilt-and-slide or the beavertail provides the shallow approach angle these vehicles need. A generic flatbed transporter often doesn't have one.
The Drive-Through Trap
ACA drives cars through the auction hall. A vehicle that started and ran through the ring on Saturday can be completely dead by Tuesday collection — British Leyland electrics, seized drum brakes, and choked carburettors are common causes. You cannot rely on a car driving onto your truck because it drove through the hall.
The History File Left Behind
ACA still operates heavily with physical history files — service books, old MOTs, original handbooks and correspondence folders. For a classic buyer, that documentation can represent 10–15% of the car's value. Generic transporters leave the site without checking. The office will not post it later.
The Boot Full of Spares
It is standard practice at ACA for classics to come with spare parts — engines, gearboxes, original seats or panels on pallets. A generic transporter arrives expecting to load one car and finds three boxes of spares beside it. MJC provides the flat deck space to secure the vehicle, and plenty of space for associated history and parts before we leave the site.
The tilt-and-slide or at least, a beavertail is dispatched as standard, not as an upgrade. At the point of loading, we assess the approach angle against the vehicle’s ground clearance. For E-Types, Lotus and low-bodied Italian stock, the bed tilts to near-flat. For project cars with seized drum brakes, the winch is used gently, with nylon straps spread across the vehicle’s width, rather than a chain hooked to a single point on a rotten subframe.
Before leaving the Cattlemarket, the history file is retrieved from the office. Service book, old MOTs, original handbook, corresponding spare parts, everything that came with the lot leaves with the vehicle. For a private enthusiast who has just spent £10,000 on a 1974 Ford Escort Mexico, that folder is not just paperwork; it’s a significant part of what they paid for.
For project cars and barn finds with spares, we secure the vehicle and its associated parts on the flat deck before departure. Loose engines and gearboxes on a pallet do not share a cabin with a freshly loaded 50-year-old car.
"Fair Deck Use" Policy
† Calculator Quote: Covers the vehicle lot only. If your lot includes the “kitchen sink” (pallets of spares, loose panels, parts, additional engines or gearboxes, or maybe an old go-kart, etc.), please contact the team first. We’ll adjust the load plan and the quote to ensure everything is secured safely in one run.
Already won the lot? Use the pricing tool above, then send us the lot number, vehicle details and delivery address. We confirm the job, collect from Anglia Car Auctions and deliver to your home, workshop, storage facility or specialist garage.
What MJC Does Before a Classic Leaves King's Lynn.
Four Types of Buyers at Anglia — All Expecting Something Different.
Private enthusiasts make up 45% of the ACA buyer base. They are buying emotionally — an £10,000 Ford Escort Mexico or a £12,000 MGB GT is a dream purchase, not a trade calculation. They expect white-glove communication and pristine delivery to a residential driveway.
Independent local dealers from Norfolk, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire make up 35 to 40% and want the Wednesday modern used lot moved fast and cheaply to their forecourt.
Specialist rebuilders are the barn-find hunters buying non-runners with seized everything. These are the winch-only jobs where the chassis condition dictates the strap placement.
5% are international collectors — Porsche 911s and RS Cosworths going to Felixstowe or Harwich for European or US shipping.
MJC handles all four without confusing one for the other.
Private Enthusiasts — White Glove Standard
Residential driveway delivery to narrow village lanes and tight access points. The history file, along with all relevant parts and documents, are included at handover. The buyer is told the vehicle's condition at collection, not at arrival on the drive.
Local Independent Dealers — Speed First
Wednesday modern used stock moved fast to Norfolk, Lincs and Cambridgeshire forecourts. Fixed price before dispatch, same or next-day delivery to keep the sales cycle moving.
Specialist Rebuilders — Project Car Handling
Non-runners, seized brakes, rotten subframes and a pallet of spares. Nylon straps, tilt-and-slide approach and strap placement are assessed against chassis condition before winching. No chains on a rotten subframe.
International Collectors — Port Delivery
High-end classics heading to European or US collections via Felixstowe or Harwich. Collected from King's Lynn and handled as export-ready units from gate to port.

For Anglia Trade Buyers
Buying Multiple Lots? Do Not Quote Them One by One.
If you are buying several Anglia lots — a mix of classics, project cars and modern used — the calculator is not the best tool. Different vehicles need different equipment and different handling. Send all lot numbers together and we will plan the collection and deck loading correctly.
Winning lots at other sites?
Consolidate your fleet. We offer multi-lot discounts for same-day collections across compounds:
Send all lot numbers together. Include lot numbers, vehicle types, runner/non-runner status and delivery addresses. We will plan the tilt-and-slide approach, strap placement and spares loading for each vehicle and quote the run as a single movement.

Frequently Asked Questions
BEFORE YOU CALL.
What is what3words, and why is it useful in a breakdown?
what3words is a global location system that divides the world into 3-metre squares, each with a unique three-word address (e.g. ///hush.lifted.along for London Bridge). In a breakdown, this is far more precise than a postcode — which can cover an entire street — and more reliable than a WhatsApp pin, which can drift by up to 50 metres in central London. MJC Auto Recovery uses what3words as its primary dispatch location tool. The same system is used by the UK Police, Fire, and Ambulance services.
How does what3words differ from sharing a live location on WhatsApp?
what3words is a fixed technical address — WhatsApp Live Location is a dynamic social tool. WhatsApp Live Location relies on continuous mobile data and can drift by up to 50 metres in built-up areas or under motorway bridges. A what3words address is fixed: once you read us those three words, that 3-metre square remains the target even if your phone battery dies or your data signal drops entirely.
Do I need a data signal for what3words to work?
No, the official what3words app functions offline using your phone’s built-in GPS. This is a significant advantage over WhatsApp or Google Maps, which require an active data connection to load map tiles. If you are in a “dead zone” or a rural area with poor reception, you can still read your three words to us over a standard voice call.
How does what3words differ from sharing a "Live Location" on WhatsApp?
Precision and reliability. While WhatsApp “Live Location” is useful, it is a social tool that relies on continuous power and data and can “drift” 50+ metres in built-up London areas or under motorway bridges. what3words is a fixed, technical address. Once you give us those three words, that 3-metre square remains the target even if your phone battery dies or your data signal drops out.
How do I find my what3words address if I’m stranded?
Open the free what3words app and wait for the GPS to settle. The app will display your unique 3-word address at the top of the screen (what3words shows you how). Simply read those words to our team, or share them via WhatsApp/SMS. By using this system, you are helping MJC maintain its 35-minute average response time across London and the M25.
Why is what3words the professional choice over a WhatsApp Pin?
It eliminates human error during high-stress situations. Digital “pins” can be accidentally dropped in the wrong place if you scroll the map. what3words provides a unique, spoken address that our dispatchers and operators can verify immediately. It is the same system used by the Police, Fire, and Ambulance services, and MJC adopts the same high standard to ensure a faster, safer rescue.
Can you find me on the M25 or a "Smart Motorway" using what3words?
Yes, this is where the technology is vital for your safety. Motorway marker posts are often obscured by rain or darkness. what3words allows us to see exactly which side of the carriageway you are on and which junction is closest. This prevents our recovery truck from heading in the wrong direction – a mistake that can cost an hour of time in a dangerous live-lane environment.
What do I do if the what3words button doesn't work?
First, check that you have allowed location access — tap the padlock icon in your browser’s address bar and set Location to Allow, then try again. Also, check for any other location privacy settings you may have switched on for your device. If you still have difficulty, call us directly on 07522 964 566 and describe your surroundings. Our operators are experienced at locating vehicles using landmarks, road signs, and junction numbers when technology isn’t cooperating.
