HOW MUCH DOES — CAR RECOVERY COST IN LONDON?

Car recovery in London costs between £70 and £120 at MJC for most local jobs. Local recovery within London — collection and delivery within the same borough or a nearby one — starts from £70. Long-distance recovery is priced from £1.30 per mile. We confirm a fixed quote before every job leaves the depot.

To put MJC’s car recovery prices in context, here is how most London operators build a quote. A typical 15-mile local recovery under the standard industry model costs: an £85 call-out fee, plus 15 miles at £2.00 per mile (£30), plus VAT at 20 percent. That reaches £138 before any time-of-day surcharge. MJC’s price for the same job would typically sit between £86 and £120. VAT included. No call-out fee. No mileage added on top.

The difference is not always the final number. The difference is when you find out what that number is. At MJC, you know before we leave. Under a call-out-fee model, you find out when the driver arrives.

How much does a jump start cost in London?

MJC jump start prices in London start from £65. We use voltage-stabilised professional power packs, not standard booster cables. Because of this, they are safe for modern ECUs, keyless systems, and all sensitive vehicle electronics. A full battery load test is included on site. If the battery fails the test, we can supply and fit a replacement with a warranty, coded to your vehicle's charging system, on the spot. Jump starts are available 24/7 across all London boroughs. There is no out-of-hours surcharge.

Does MJC charge a call-out fee on top of the recovery price?

No. MJC does not charge a call-out fee. The price we quote before dispatch is the total cost of the job. You do not pay a separate attendance charge on top of the car recovery price. This is different from most London recovery operators. They charge a call-out fee of £75 to £150 before mileage even begins.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

How do I pay for my recovery?

You pay on completion. MJC accepts cash, all major debit and credit cards via a mobile card reader, and secure bank transfer. Some jobs need a deposit before dispatch. But this is confirmed at the point of booking. It is never applied without notice.

Will MJC provide a receipt for my insurance claim?

Yes. MJC provides a digital receipt and a fully itemised invoice on completion. UK insurance providers accept these. If your insurer needs specific document formats or authorisation codes, tell us when you book and we will prepare them for you.

What is the recovery price per mile in the UK?

MJC's recovery price per mile starts from £1.30 in the UK. The typical range is £1.30 to £2.75 per mile, depending on vehicle size, weight, and total distance. We confirm a fixed quote before dispatch on every job. In contrast, some long-distance operators in the UK charge £5 to £6 per mile. MJC calculates its rate on the actual road distance from your collection point.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

Are car recovery prices in London higher at night or at weekends?

Not at MJC. We charge the same car recovery price at 3am on a bank holiday as at 10am on a Tuesday. There is no out-of-hours surcharge, no weekend premium, and no late-night uplift. Most London recovery operators add 30 to 50 percent for evening, weekend, and bank holiday callouts. MJC does not. The price confirmed before dispatch is what you pay, regardless of when you call.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

Are MJC's car recovery prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes. All MJC car recovery prices include VAT. We do not quote a net price and add 20 percent at invoice. The price confirmed before dispatch is the price on your receipt. Business customers and fleet operators who need a separate VAT invoice receive one on completion.

Does the London Congestion Charge or ULEZ affect the price?

No. A vehicle carried on an MJC flatbed, with its wheels fully off the road, does not trigger ULEZ charges for the vehicle being transported. MJC's flatbeds are ULEZ-compliant. As a result, neither the Congestion Charge nor ULEZ appears as an addition to your quoted price.

Do you charge extra if I am not with the vehicle or there is a delay?

No extra charge is applied without prior agreement. MJC allows a reasonable grace period on arrival. If big delays occur beyond that — for example, if access is blocked or the customer is not reachable — any additional charge is explained clearly before it applies. Nothing is added to your bill without your knowledge.

Is there an extra charge for passengers during car recovery in London?

No. Passengers are included in the fixed car recovery price. MJC sends the right vehicle based on your declared passenger count. Our 7-seater recovery vehicles carry up to 6 passengers alongside the car on the flatbed. Most recovery operators take a maximum of 2 passengers. So if you have a group, tell us when you get your fixed quote. Everything is included in the price.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

What happens if I cancel after booking?

If you cancel before dispatch, there is no charge. But once a vehicle has been dispatched, a cancellation fee applies to cover the operator's time and fuel. The exact amount depends on how far the vehicle has travelled. Our operator will confirm the figure before any charge is applied.

Will difficult access or underground car parks increase the car recovery price?

Possibly. Recoveries involving blocked access, underground car parks, multi-storey structures, or vehicles needing specialist wheel-skating equipment may carry an extra charge. This is assessed at the point of booking, based on what you describe. It is not applied when the driver arrives. Your fixed quote will always reflect the full scope of the job as discussed.

Does the car recovery price increase if my vehicle won't roll or steer?

Yes, in some cases. Vehicles with seized brakes, locked wheels, or a steering fault need Go-Jak wheel skates or extended winching to load safely. That takes more time and equipment. If this applies to your vehicle, tell us when you book. Any extra cost is confirmed before dispatch. No price changes are made once a job is accepted without your knowledge and agreement.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

Is there a minimum car recovery price for short-distance jobs?

Yes. All MJC car recovery jobs carry a minimum price of £70. This covers dispatch, operator time, and the specialist equipment needed, regardless of distance travelled. Your fixed quote will always make this clear before we set off.

Is membership required for car recovery in London?

No. MJC provides car recovery in London with no membership, no subscription, and no ongoing fees. You pay only when you need the service. Every job is priced separately with a fixed quote agreed before dispatch.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

How do MJC's car recovery prices compare to the AA or RAC pay-as-you-go rate?

MJC is a pay-per-job service with no annual fee. A single AA or RAC callout bought on the day, without an existing membership, typically costs £100 to £250 depending on service level and location. MJC local London car recovery prices start from £70, including VAT, with no call-out fee and no membership needed. So for drivers who break down rarely, MJC gives comparable or better value without any ongoing commitment.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

Why do some recovery companies charge more for the same job?

Most recovery operators in London use a call-out-fee-plus-mileage model. A short local recovery under that model — for example, £85 call-out plus 15 miles at £2.00 per mile plus VAT — reaches £138 before any time-of-day adjustment. The same job at MJC would typically cost between £86 and £120. VAT included, no call-out fee, no mileage added separately. The total difference is sometimes small. But the structure is very different. A call-out-fee model lets operators advertise a low number and build the real car recovery price on arrival. MJC does not have a headline rate. We have a fixed price.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

Does MJC cover motorway breakdowns in London and the M25?

Yes. MJC is an authorised recovery operator across all 31 M25 junctions, the M1, M4, M40, and M3. We operate 24 hours a day. Motorway car recovery prices start from £95. There is no motorway location surcharge on top of standard pricing. Our four hubs at SE20, NW6, SL2, and HP21 give MJC wider M25 reach than most single-depot London operators.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp

What is MJC's response time for car recovery in London?

The MJC average response time is 35 minutes across London and the M25. This is a tracked operational average, not a marketing claim. Response times vary by location and time of day. Customers near our four hubs — SE20, NW6, SL2, and HP21 — typically get a faster response. Check our coverage area to see your nearest hub.Call 07344 247 000 · WhatsApp
