How much does a jump-start cost in London?
MJC Auto Recovery provides roadside jump-start services from £65 in London (April 2026 pricing). MJC uses voltage-stabilised professional power packs — not standard booster cables — which are safe for modern ECUs, keyless entry systems, and all sensitive vehicle electronics. Jump-starts are available 24/7 across all London boroughs.
Does MJC charge a call-out fee?
No, MJC does not charge a call-out fee. You pay only the agreed price for the service rendered, confirmed in advance of dispatch.
How do I pay for my recovery?
Payment is taken on completion. MJC accepts cash, all major debit and credit cards via a mobile card terminal, and secure online bank transfers. Some jobs will require a partial deposit, which is mentioned pre-booking.
Will MJC provide a receipt for my insurance claim?
Yes. MJC provides professional digital receipts and fully itemised invoices accepted by all UK insurance providers.
What is MJC's long-distance recovery rate?
Long-distance recoveries are priced per mile (as of April 2026). Rates typically range from £1.30 to £3.25 per mile depending on vehicle size, weight, and distance. A fixed quote is always confirmed before dispatch. Prices correct as of April 2026.
Are your prices higher at night, weekends, or during peak hours?
No — MJC charges the same price 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including bank holidays. There are no out-of-hours surcharges, no weekend premiums, and no penalty for calling at 3am. Any variation in price — for example, distance or vehicle type — is included in your fixed quote before dispatch. There are no surprise additions after the job.
Are your prices inclusive of VAT?
All MJC quotes clearly state whether VAT is included — there are no hidden additions beyond the agreed price. Trade customers and fleet operators who require a VAT invoice receive a fully itemised document upon completion. If you have a specific VAT query before booking, ask when you call and it will be confirmed in your quote.
Does the London Congestion Charge or ULEZ affect the price?
No — and this is where MJC’s flatbed method works in your favour. A vehicle carried on an MJC flatbed with its wheels fully off the road does not trigger the ULEZ charge or the London Congestion Charge, because TfL cameras identify vehicles by wheel rotation. Your recovery will not attract either charge as a result of MJC travelling through these zones.
Do you charge if I’m not with the vehicle or there’s a delay?
No waiting time charges are applied without prior agreement. MJC allows a reasonable grace period on arrival. If significant delays occur beyond that — for example, if access to the vehicle is restricted or the customer is unavailable — any additional charges will be clearly explained before they apply. Nothing is added to your bill without your knowledge.
Is there an extra charge for passengers during car recovery in London?
No – passengers are typically included at no extra cost. MJC Auto Recovery will dispatch a suitable vehicle based on your needs, including 7-seater recovery vehicles for families or larger groups. Simply let us know your passenger requirements when booking. Everything is agreed upfront and included in your fixed price — no surprises on arrival.
What happens if I cancel after booking?
If you cancel before dispatch, there is no charge. Once a vehicle has been dispatched, a small cancellation fee may apply to cover fuel and time already committed — the amount depends on the distance already travelled and will always be explained clearly before it is applied. MJC will never present an unexpected charge.
Will difficult access or underground car parks increase the price?
Possibly — specialist access recovery in London may carry an additional charge. Recoveries involving restricted access, underground car parks, multi-storey structures, or non-running vehicles that require specialist wheel-skating equipment may incur an additional charge. This is assessed at the point of booking — never sprung on you at the scene. Your fixed quote will always reflect the full scope of the job.
Does it cost more if my vehicle won’t roll or steer?
Completely immobilised vehicles may require specialist equipment, which can affect the price. This includes seized brakes, locked wheels, or a steering fault requiring Go-Jak wheel skates or extended winching time. If this applies to your situation, let MJC know when you call. Any additional cost is confirmed before dispatch — there are no on-the-spot price changes once a job is accepted.
Is there a minimum charge for short-distance recoveries?
Yes — all London car recovery jobs are subject to a minimum charge of £75. This covers the cost of dispatch, the driver’s time, and specialist equipment, regardless of the distance travelled. Your fixed quote will always make this clear before we set off.
Is membership required for car recovery in London?
No. MJC Auto Recovery provides car recovery in London with no membership, no subscription, and no ongoing fees. You pay only when you need assistance.
